About me

It’s been almost 15 years since I left my job as a sports photographer in Switzerland to travel with my camera. The images that transfix me usually convey an expression, movement, shape or color that is unexpected. Often I find these images on the street, which is where I most often feel riveted as a photographer. The images I share the most are the ones that seem accidental and portray an emotion or feeling that is unforeseen, and difficult to articulate in words or concepts.

"Photography is a brief complicity between foresight and chance" - John Stuart Mill

Inspiration

Yoga As Art grew from the idea of photographing yoga where it is least expected. The project was inspired by New York-based photographer Kevin Richardson whose Dance As Art project photographed dancers in studio poses in the streets of New York. Thyda Sek, executive director of the Azahar Foundation (Cambodia) was quick to embrace the idea of moving yoga from the studio to the streets of Phnom Penh. The Foundation’s Em Vun brought her charisma, ideas and patience to every photo shoot. She, and other teachers at the Foundation, enliven the photos.

Specials thanks

The AZAHAR Foundation and its teachers and managers who helped make this project possible, especially Thyda, Em and Raty
